Torpado is one of the oldest bicycle makers in the world. Dating back to 1895, the company also branched out to make motorcycles. Clearly obsessed with 2 wheeled transport, the family owned company went through many iterations after the golden era of cycling in the 1960s. They were the second largest manufacturers of bicycles in Italy before being acquired in the 1980s which finally saw their frames reach abroad.
This particular one is one of the older Torapdo frames. It stem from 1950s and it is a beautifully crafted piece. One of the first thing which drwas your attention are the very elaborate lugs with many cut outs, which are chromed on top of it. You won't also miss the oil ports both for headset and the bottom bracket.
The frame has been professionally refurbished in light blue color and it wasn't a random choice. The signature color of Torpado was the "celeste", but not the green shade better known from Bianchi, it was rather more blue and nearer to the original meaning "sky blue".
