Prinetti & Stucchi is one of the oldest bicycle brands in the world. It was founded by Giulio Prinetti and Augusto Stucchi in Milan in 1874. From the beginning, they manufactured cars, bicycles (or two wheelers) and sewing machines. The company's name could ring a bell to some vintage car enthusiasts, since one of the employees before the brake of the century was certain Etore Bugatti, who designed his fist car (Tipo 1) there. The name has been changed to Stucchi in 1901, when Prinetti became Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Stucchi bikes were known mainly for the high class city cruisers, but they manufactured limited number of racing bikes as well. They became deeply involved in racing by sponsoring the cycling team Stucchi in 1909. They have even won the Giro d'Italia twice, first with Alfonso Calzolari in 1914 and then with Costante Girardengo in 1919.
This Stucchi classic road bikes stems from 1980s and it sports the bright yellow paintjob, the trademark company color. The frame is made of Columbus Nivacrom tubes and there are many refined details with Stucchi pantographes all over it. The stem in fact is also Stucchi pantographed. It is equipped with Ofmega parts and Modolo braking system and the Selle Italia Turbo Bio saddle is matching the frame perfectly. Classic 80s bike with nice frame, Italian components and plenty of heritage.
