In 1939, four years after setting the World Hour Record, Giuseppe Olmo, nicknamed "Gepin", retired from a successful cycling career. Straight afterwards he set up a bicycle manufacture in Celle Ligure together with his brothers Franco, Giovanni and Michele. The traditional company is still in production today. During the years many excellent bikes have left Celle Ligure to win races all over the world.
One of their top models in the 1980s was the Olmo Competition Leader. It is one of the early aero-optimized attempts as the flattened seat stays, internal shifting cable routing or shifters inside the main triangle show. This Olmo has been made using Columbus tubes connected by some nice cut out lugs. There are also many pantographed details as we know them from high-end Olmo bicycles.
The cherry on the top is definitely the paintjob. The frame has been fully refurbished and received a stunning blue cromovelato paintjob. The chrome has been redone as well, so the whole frame looks like a shiny jewel.
