Nowadays, Drali is not very known and if you would ask yourself, when have you seen a Drali bike for the last time, you would probably answer - never. And still it is a brand which carry a great deal of cycling history on its shoulders. On the very beggining, there was Carlo Drali of Milan. At the age of 13, he started as a helping hand in Cicli Olympia. It didn't take long and he was hired personally by certain Edoardo Bianchi for the Bianchi's "reparto corse" division. This was a turning point in his career.
Unfortunately, the WW I broke out and the 4-year martyrdom followed. Afterwards, he returned to Reparto corse where he could work on frames for iconic champions like Girardengo or Olmo. In 1923 he opened his own shop in Milan, where he eventually thought his son Giuseppe all he knew about frame building. After WW II Bianchi business resumed and Carlo was contracted to build frames for the Campionissimo Fausto Coppi. It went so far that Coppi won the 1946 Milano - San Remo on a Drali made bike. The tight collaboration with Bianchi continued in following years and apart of the bikes with their own brand Drali, many pure racing bikes for Bianchi sponsored riders were born in their workshop.
The Drali brand is still alive and what's more, Giuseppe Drali (now in his 90s) is still in the center of it.
And we are proud to present you one of his bikes here. The frame was made of Columbus tubes in the 1970s and the skillful hand of its builder shows. Everything is precise, clean and very elegant. The lugs have unusual cut outs and the fork crown has a distinctive shape. The light blue paint is still original, Though the patina gathered through the years is there, it just underlines underlines the authenticity and its heritage.
The highlight of the components are certainly the Drali pantographed Campagnolo seatpost and 3ttt stem. Apart or Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport, you will find the Universal brakes, Cinelli Unicanitor saddle and the 3ttt bars covered by Almarc in stitched leather.
Bicycle for true classic cycling lovers and ideal for the next heroic event.
